Big Brother 14: Who is The Best Coach?

I have only slept 4 hours since the Big Brother 14 live feeds launched. Therefore, I think I have enough evidence to intelligently discuss the differing strategies among the new mentors. Although my sleep deprivation reminds me to include that I make no guarantees.

The position of “coach” is being guinea pigged on Boogie, Janelle, Dan and Britney and each is already adapting their own style of the never before seen position.

Boogie (The Guru) – Boogie’s personal coaching style is very eastern in its philosophy. He tells stories about seasons past and attempts to provide a life lesson or two in the process. He talks game and effects of the game and game afterlife. He takes his team members aside individually to try to pump them up and motivate them. He teaches them the way of the manipulation and the killer instinct. His philosophy seems to be that the success of his team members equals success for him.

Janelle (The Don) – Janelle’s strategy involves a little revenge, a little deal making, and little “one day I may ask you for a favor.” She basically seems to think that her team should shut up and be lovable while she takes care of business. She wants to put a horsehead in Boogie’s bed. Fueled by revenge, Janelle’s philosophy seems to involve letting others execute her plans and those plans are to get Boogie out and then take a nap.
Dan (The Substitute) – Dan may have won BB10, but he’s acting as if he sent in a ringer this season. Dan seems a little checked out so Substitute Dan has taken over. He listens to his teammates feelings and makes them smile here and there, but otherwise he teaches them nothing. He entertains them for an afternoon and then goes off to live his own life and forget about work until the next time he gets called in. Dan’s philosophy seems to be to only commit as much as he needs to and to let them figure stuff out for themselves.
Britney (The Instructor) – Britney doesn’t seem to care about her team, per se, but she is treating them as living chess players that she has to move around the board to win the game. Except she can’t physically move them so she has to keep instructing them on how to move. She doesn’t seem to want to listen to what her individual members are trying to say, but instead just keeps repeating the orders that she wants carried out. Britney’s philosophy seems to be about keeping a straight head and remaining emotionally detached.

Do you agree? Which style do you think is best?

Britney is my favourite player of all time. It also seems like her team is currently dominating. She is my favourite coach, maybe not the best; but my favourite!

I think your analysis of the coaches is correct.

Dan messed up by not picking a strong guy for his team, so I can’t feel real sorry for him.

Britney, as always, is riding high because she is in power. Her personality will change quickly once she loses power. Her downfall will be her complete devotion to Janelle, who is really running things.

If I were in Russell’s, I mean, Willie’s shoes :), I would take out Frank. Leaving Boogie at full force going into a new HOH would be a mistake.

I agree with the last comments. I think Britney will change her tune when she doesn’t have someone from her team in a position of power. However, I think it is in her best interest to ally with Janelle’s team now as they can take out Boogie’s team early on. Dan’s team stands no chance…he’s completely checked out. I think if Willie can keep up his game he can take it all the way for Brit. But Janelle is so far the more effective coach…and yes she definitely is the “Don”.

I don’t understand why they brought Brittany in as one of the best players ever in the history of BB. I don’t think she was that good of a player and only got by because of who she hung around with. I would rather have like it if Dr Will came back. I think he was really a good player.

I don’t think Britney is that good….she doesn’t have a clue about all of Willie’s alliances. She is clueless as she was w/the Brigade. Janelle is the better player. I can’t stand Willie, he is a hothead and thinks he is King of BB14….he needs to go.
